NOTICE:  This Is An American Hoshinsul System

"Not Your Traditional Korean Hoshinsul System"

NOTICE TO ALL:

Tong Hap Kwan Hoshinsul has a Korean Name because we have incorporated some Korean techniques and we use the 3 Korean soft principles of Yu (Flowing Water), Won (Circular Motion) & Wha (Harmony/Using Opponents Energy Against Them). The Yu principle is to be like water. Water is the softest of elements but can penetrate the hardest substance on the planet plus, it doesn't fight force with force, it flows around it's obstacles to achieve the desired result so, be like Water. The Won principle means we use alot of Circular motions to direct our opponents energy in order to defeat the opponent farely easy. The Wha principle means we work in harmony with the opponent, instead of trying to use force against force for a desired effect, we use the opponents energy in harmony with our Hoshinsul techniques to achieve victory in an easy and timely matter. Now, we also use hard martial elements as well as soft. For instance, we don't really block persay, as we are actually striking our opponents weapons, meaning their limbs whether it be defending against a punch, a kick or even a throw or takedown.  So, what may be perceived as a block is actually a strike, trying to break the bones of the limbs of our opponents to achieve the maximum desired effect. Hence the hard principles, which doesn't stop there, there's so much more.

This is an American Founded System of Self Defense and we have our own American Standards and We do not abide by any Oriental/Asian country standards or culture for, we have our own unique and beautiful culture right here in the states that unfortunately, many have forgotten about!

* Tong Hap" is a Korean phrase that consists of two words: "tong" (동) meaning "same" or "together", and "hap" (합) meaning "union" or "combination".  Tong Hap can be translated to "Together Combination" and we translate Tong Hap as Integrated because integrated means two or more components have merged into a single system.

Tong Hap Kwan Hoshinsul means "Integrated School Of Self Defense" and teaches students to be defensive but they can also use offensive techniques to defend themselves, another person, etc.

This is a Self Defense System that allows each practitioner to portray the art in their own image. The Tong Hap Kwan Hoshinsul has a Minimum curriculum for each belt level that must be followed and then each individual instructor will add their own techniques for their students. This will give an endless variety of techniques and concepts that Tong Hap Kwan Hoshinsul instructors and practitioners can share with one another for generations to come.

Tong Hap Kwan Hoshinsul's emphasis in grading is self-defence techniques such as defence against punches, strikes, kicks, throws, takedowns, headlocks, bearhugs, wristgrabs, weapons, etc. Weapons techniques are also taught which may include traditional weapons and improvised weapons.
